The standard I chose wa s LAFS.1112.W.1.2. This states that students should be able to introduce a topic and compile and organize complex and ideas into one cohesive thought. Students should use formatting, graphics, relevant facts and quotes, and concrete details to clearly demonstrate knowledge of the topic. They should also be able to maintain a formal/objective tone, use precise language, use varying syntax, and use metaphors/analogies to further clarify their points. I think that at my current skill level I would be able to implement this. I worked as a tutor for two years of high school helping students develop their writing skills.  CPLAMS offers a wide variety of activities, lesson plans, and student resources. I chose 9-12 social studies as my grade/subject. I thought it was really easy to find information based on standards. Most districts require that all teachers have lesson plans that correlate with the standard that student...

Copyright is one of the forms of protecting intellectual property. If you have copyright over your work, you are the only person that has the right to distribute or use it. You can even make it where if someone wants to use your work, they have to pay you. Fair use is a set of guidelines created by the Copyright Act of 1976 that regulates how people can use copyrighted materials. Most teachers in higher education are allowed to post the first two chapters of a copyrighted textbook under fair use. In other instances, if you want to show a movie in class, you may need to get permission depending on how big your class is.  In a future classroom battling decreased productivity and lack of funding, as a teacher I would help students set study strategies and apply for federal grants while making other options available. Some study strategies I would suggest for my students is the Pomodoro method. With this you would work for 15-20 minutes then...

As a high school student I almost never used MS Word and relied solely on Google Docs. I preferred Google Docs because of the "cloud" feature where you can access any document from any computer or device. I was the queen of forgetting to print out a paper before I got to school. Google Docs allowed me to access my paper without having to carry the most up to date file on a flash drive. In college though I have mainly used MS Word because I rarely have to print things out and I almost always have my personal computer with me.  The standard that I felt was most important as an educator is number 3, citizen. This standard compels educators to teach students how to be responsible and respectful members of digital communities. In this "digital age" it's very easy for young people to publish mean things while hiding behind a keyboard. Educators should press the importance and model skill of being able to  respectfully disagree with s...

Hi! I'm Rebecca and this blog is for my educational technology class. On paper I'm a senior studying economics but as a person I love sewing, Cher, and the Real Housewives (New York and Beverly Hills). I'm really into history, especially the stories behind songs, so ask me about any song from the 70s and I have at least 4 facts for you. I'm currently listening to the podcast My Favorite Murder and I'm reading Trixie and Katya's Guide to Modern Womanhood.  Technology has been an essential part of my education. I was in elementary school when SmartBoards were introduced in our county. From there, accessories like the Elmo were used in a lot of my classes. In high school almost all of my classes required a presentation that needed technological resources.  My largest personal learning network is the one I use for my economic classes. This includes people such as my professor and my peers as well as my advisors. I also rely on tools like GroupMe and Chegg to talk wi...
